Still not sure. Eccentric and ecclectic. Just a note, the webpage is not mine but rather one that I have been working on.

Its raiding time or delicate negotiations....

I am having a bit of a quandry with the library's annual inventorying. I have a long list of Rare Books Materials that have been checked out to faculty members. Much of this happened when the faculty had the right to take anything that they wanted back to their offices. Missing and damaged (Prof. B YOU DO NOT WRITE IN EARLY 19TH CENTURY BOOKS WITH RED INK PENS!!!!!!!) materials are par for the course.
In the past I have been able to retrieve some materials in the name of "mold removal", which was not just an excuse in this instance but now I am faced with the choice of just removing them or asking that they be returned. I discussed this with the director and head of access services and they decided that we should negotiate. In a good faith effort I am only demanding the return of 17th and 18th century materials. With a few exceptions for some very rare 19th century material.
But dealing with Law Faculty is about the same as dealing with a 2 year old. They understand the need for restricted access but not in their case. They don't understand that THEY are replaceable the materials are not.

Anachronus
